Raven:
I am Dr. Raven Baxter, also known as Raven, the Science Maven. I'm a molecular biologist, science educator, fashionista, musician, and queen of the Science Geekdom .
Ron:
And I'm Dr. Ronald Gamble. I'm a theoretical astrophysicist, visual artist, and also a science educator. And together, Raven and I are gonna be hosting this season of Science Will Win.
Raven:
And over the course of four episodes, we're gonna take turns breaking down the history and development of some of the most exciting advancements in medicine.
Ron:
So just a little bit about us, we're partners, we love to nerd out. We're crazy about each other and science, like I'm really excited to get into this. Raven,
Raven:
I'm glad you like me just as much as you like science . But we're gonna be covering a lot of ground here. There's some history, there's some biology, there's chemistry, there's a lot.
Ron:
And we'll be adventuring into the labs where some of these medical breakthroughs are being developed.
Raven:
We'll also be talking to doctors, patients, and researchers.
Jillian:
Yeah, I mean, I think we are doing things in drug discovery now that 20 years ago would've been unimaginable to people.
Joyann:
The passion for trying to make a molecule to help save patients that are living with cancer is also something that really gives you purpose in life.
Carol:
Group B strep chose me. I did not choose Group B strep.
Amanda:
I have this mental battle, like what am I doing to betray my body?
Tom:
Drug development is very challenging. There's lots of things that make it complicated. So successes need to be celebrated.
Jen:
And it's moving faster than I think we even thought it could.
Laird:
Creativity in a very nerdy way. It's what drives us all here.
Ron:
Like there is some exciting stuff. I learned a lot, I almost cried in one episode. Like I can't wait to dive into all of this.
